I really enjoyed this one.
I thought I had things figured out at various stages, and I was always kind of right; I was heading in the right direction but still with various chunks that I hadn't figured out, so when I finally twigged, I felt satisfied.
I really enjoyed the writing style, and the atmosphere and tension Iain Reid created kept me hooked: I started listening to the audiobook yesterday, fell asleep listening to it, and finished it off today. I think listening to the audiobook was a good shout. As much as I love reading a physical book, the audio really added a lot to the narrative for me, and at certain points () I felt that the impact wouldn't have been felt if I was reading it on the page instead of listening to it.
I was quite surprised to see that a lot of my friends on here hadn't rated it as highly, but then again this book is really up my alley - from the genre to the themes to the writing style.
Anyway, if you're looking for something a bit different and unique, or a short but atmospheric and twisty read, this might be worth picking up for you. And if you can access it, I recommend the audiobook (I listened to it on Scribd with my free trial).

Somewhere between 3 and 4 ⭐️.
I don’t know exactly how I feel about this book, but I do know that it was compelling enough that I stayed up until 2AM to finish it.
