I hated it. Not one thing about this book was very inspiring or great. All I know now is don't go to a drinking party if you're on the track team...um...DUH. And don't freaking kiss your friend's boyfriend. Gosh.

This novel was great, I really enjoyed reading it. I have to say my initial interest was started by the statement: “Thou shalt not kiss they best friend’s boyfriend....” I mean doesn’t that just intrigue you! I was surprised to find that the novel portrays a small Indiana town. Yay for Hoosiers! But I’ll admit it was strange having “Fort Wayne” pop up during the text..... what with it being so close and all. But besides the coincidence of my proximity with a fictional story, I would have to say that I would have enjoyed this novel had it not taken place in the Hoosier state.

It’s refreshingly funny. I laughed out loud, Meg Cabot laughed out loud. I mean how can a book endorsed by Meg Cabot (also a fellow Hoosier) not be good!? I think it’s highly doubtful.

Emma’s character was extraordinary! She’s funny, smart, sarcastic, insecure and genuine. I related to her questioning of her life and her faith. It was easy for me to imagine myself in Emma’s world because it is a realistic one. And the wide range of emotion that Emma displayed definitely struck a cord.

I’m not sure if Cook is writing more about Emma, but I would love to read more about her! Great characters, great premise... add this one to your Christmas list.

Emma has a bit of a problem. Her best friend isn't speaking to her. In fact, neither of them are and both for the same reason. See, one of her best friends is JoAnn and the other is Collin. Collin and JoAnn are dating and Emma and Collin might have shared a small kiss at Christmastime. That kiss also might have been in front of JoAnn's mother.

So, as you can see Emma has is in a bit of a dilemma. To make matters worse, she isn't sure how she feels about Collin and he seems to be showing signs of taking their relationship further, no matter what JoAnn feels.

Also, there is another guy who seems to be showing feelings for Emma and the popular girls at the school are suddenly becoming very sick. The town seems to think that it is a terrorist conspiracy and the new boy might somehow be involved.

Will Emma be able to solve the mystery of what is happening to the popular girls without ruining her chances at love and a track scholarship?

I have to say that I just couldn't get into this book. It started out at a good pace but after that things got slow. Also, the romance of the book never seem to take off. It seemed to get started and then just stop. It wasn't resolved at the end and that is one of the worst things to do, in my opinion.

The characters in this story also seemed to be underdeveloped. Emma was a good character but you are kind of left guessing about her relationships with the other characters. Also, some of them just really pissed me off. =]

The story was good and the book was cute, I just felt it could have been so much better. The end just really left me unsatisfied and maybe if there is a sequel I would be happier with this story. I would still recommend it for a cute summer read but if you are looking for something with substance, this isn't it.

I gave this book four stars because this was a great book! It is about a girl that in stuck in a little town with BIG problems. Not only did she loose everything important to her, including her best friend, but she also runs straight into more problems for herself. She is caught talking to the boy that everyone hates for more reasons than could be said. Everyone is blaming everyone else for "poisoning" all of the popular girls. Luckily, Emma doesn't have to worry about it! This is a great book! I recommend it to people who like a romance story with a mystery built into it!

I did enjoy reading this book. Its easy written so good for people who want to improve their english skills!
I always mark my favorite quotes in books - if i find something to mark - and I did find something: "It seems some prayers are answered, but you don't get to choose which one." (page 288)

Pernah dengar atau baca “What Would Jesus Do?”

I'm not sure where this book came from, but I picked it up out of our collection the other day when looking for something to read while waiting for Insurgent to come out. It's by no means at the level of the YA stuff I usually read, but it was a solid enough book and still way better than the crap that was out for teens when I was that age. It's a pretty straightforward story about morals, and wanting to get out of a small town, and being popular or not and liking boys that aren't popular, and doing the right thing even though it might cost you. I had the ending basically figured out before I got to it but not too far. I'll pass this one on for my husband to put in his junior high English classroom for sure.
