Closer to 2.5 stars. I love Julie Quinn but this was just OK for me. I hated the dowager Duchess so much that she kind of killed the book for me. I get that she's not supposed to be likable but her meanness really grated and she made it hard to enjoy the novel. I like Grace and Jack's romance but it wasn't particularly original. Still a good, quick read.
It's a lighthearted and funny read, the dialogue is great and I liked most the characters. The plot isn't wildly imaginative but it worked well and I enjoyed it.

I read this 6 or 7 years after reading book 2 (which I didn't realise was a book 2 when I read it). I don't think it matters which book you read first, but I do think leaving some time between books so you forget the story makes them more of a fun read! :)
