As a sequel, this was slower, more political, including the machinations of war, and less time spent with the dream magic...for me, this made the book harder to read and connect with. The story takes place over mostly a month's worth of time and the stationary locations were people are. This takes away a lot of the adventure that occurs in the first book.

I still love the main character, and the dream magic sequences have upped stakes and have many different applications. I would definitely read another in this world, especially with where this one ended.

CW/TW: incest, r*pe and attempted r*pe.  As more time was spent in different locations and how the people interact, there was quite a lot of this content. I understand that it's a way to show heightened danger, but the multiple storylines of it was a little much. Definitely needs a warning.
