I picked this for book club. I’m so sorry fellow book clubbers and totally accept I will not be asked to recommend again 😬.

I kept seeing references to Bonjour Tristesse everywhere and it’s been on my #tbr for a while now so I took the leap. The author was only 18 years old when she wrote this and whilst I admire her writing this at such a young age, oof it did feel laborious and boring in most places!

I didn’t like any of the characters- Cecile I can forgive because she’s a bored teenager meddling in the love affairs of her rich playboy father. Anna, is described as an intelligent, sophisticated and beautiful woman, so goodness knows why she was spending time with these superficial people! I didn’t care much for Cecile’s musings on love or anything else either and was frustrated by her change of heart towards Elsa and Anna, but then I suppose this is typical teenage angst!

Overall, glad it’s off the #tbr also glad it was only 97 pages.
