The Art of War

Started reading it in high school and never finished it. But I listened to the audio book and it makes you think, especially if you're reading a historically-based story that references knowledge from this book (It was a manga, but it quotes this book).
informative inspiring reflective slow-paced

I read this because of The Poppy War, and I thought it would be really interesting… which it is… sort of. I feel like most of his points are very common sense and stuff that I already knew/could’ve easily figured out. I mean he is like oh to defeat your enemy you should be more prepared and have a superior army. Like, okay I mean I didn’t really need to read a whole book to figure that out. I guess some stuff is interesting, but they’re also quite random and he doesn’t really expand on any point, which is okay given the short nature of the book.

2.5 stars

There is a reason this book is said to be popular amongst Japanese businessmen. It teaches an approach to war that is strategic and logical, which can metaphorically be applied to many competitive pursuits.

Importante tener edición con anotaciones

Simple and clear war guidelines. Not sure why it became a business guide.
reflective fast-paced

Short and simple, but likely not.

I would probably would have benefitted from a guide/annotated read to help understand the context and to delve into the text.

Some overall things that seem simple now:
- Be prepared
- Be adaptable
- Be disciplined
informative slow-paced
