Brilliant. Language that strikes the perfect balance between artistry and clarity; speaks to a part of America we sometimes hear about--impoverished New England--but never on these terms, with the sort of emotional investment that make it impossible to forget. There's not a lot of brightness here, between collapsed marriages, struggling families, urban decay, and youthful disaffection...and yet many of the poems find a way to render the otherwise unbearable with sublime beauty and tenderness.

Well worth your time.
