If there was ever a time for a redemption arc, this was it! Although filler between Empire of Storms & Kingdom of Ash, it was a solid smooth read from start to finish!

**Tandem read with Empire of Storms. Buddy read with Melissa**

I was really not looking forward to this book because I was not a fan of Chaol. Notice I said "was"! I can't believe I'm saying it, but by the end of this book I was back on board with his character. I thought this was so good with the tandem read! I highly recommend it.

You definitely cannot skip this one. There is important plot and world information that you need before continuing on in the series. Just like all of her books, the world was well-developed, there were some twisty plot points, and the grief/anguish and PTSD was sooo well-written. It is one of my favorite things about Maas... even though this is fantasy and people die, the characters don't just move on from it like it was nothing. It stays with them as something they have to work on.

All the time I was reading 'Throne of Glass,' I never actually expected to give a book 5 stars, but here we are.
This book was a masterpiece, in my opinion.
Chaol's redemption arc, Yrene's fiery personality, Nesryn, Sartaq, and the ruk riders were a few among my favourite aspects of this book.
After 200 pages of beautifully written worldbuilding, the plot really picked up, and the Southern Continent started becoming a bigger part of the over-arching plot in the series, which is why this book is completely vital, both to the characters and the plot of Kingdom of Ash.
I adored every single amazingly-crafted word dedicated to this book, and it's completely worthy of my rare rating.

CHECK TW BEFORE READING THIS BOOK

FINALLY!
After a month of procrastinating this book, I’ve finally finished. To be honest, of 600 and a bit more pages only the last 100 were memorable. I like how Chaol and Nesryn’s stories get developed at the same pace and how neither are diminished to their gender. I also really enjoyed the development of the love interests and how they actually add to the story and aren’t boring side characters whose only function is to kiss our protagonists.
It’s cute, not good not bad.
A simple meh.

I hope it gets better.
