This may be my favorite book of find series though I did tandem read it with Empire of Storms which likely made it better.

It was so fun to leave Adarlan and Terrasen behind to go to the southern continent. To know that more exists out there mostly untouched by valg and such. But holy hell some of the twists in this one.
Maeve is a fucking valg queen?!?! Even I didn’t see that coming and I usually figure out most “twists” immediately or before they happen

So yes a really good book and one I’d read again which i don’t know if I can say about the rest of TOG

So I read this book in the tandem with eos, and honestly I think that it’s the only way to enjoy this book the best. Anyway onto the actual review

I DONT UNDERSTAND THE CHAOL HATE. He got so much character development in her book and by the end I was grinning at this book lol.

I also love how yrene made such an amazing comeback and honestly she’s one of my new favourite characters (as someone who wants to be a doctor)

Anyway this is amazing and a criminally underrated book. Anyone who didn’t like it read it again. But tandem read it this time. If you still don’t like it your out of luck

A welcome disruption to the drawn out repetition of the previous book. The worldbuilding of a new civilisation and continent injects some variety into the series, although at times I found it difficult to suspend my disbelief at the glowing descriptions of the khaganate's empire and political structure.

While I don't know if Chaol *needed* a redemption arc, this book executes one remarkably well for a character who was so insufferable in earlier .

While this book at times felt like it is just moving the chess pieces into place for the finale, it also includes some delicious twists and revelations to be explored in the next book.

I took half a star off for the overuse of classic Maas phrases such as "eyes lined with silver" and characters saying something "too softly" - girl needs to pick up a thesaurus.

PS: lampshading the irony of me accusing Maas of needing to pick up a thesaurus when I use the word "book" five times in four paragraphs
