informative medium-paced

I recommend "Principles of Communism" over the Manifesto because it says the same things but in an easier to comprehend format. Nonetheless, it's still a good idea to come back to this book after that one, since this might make you feel riled up and may further elaborate some concepts from the other book.

very hype, very cringe. i feel skeptical and creeped out, but i'm grateful for the advocacy in any case. tautology marginalizes weirdos

An interesting historical look at what makes true communism tick and how far from modern socialism it is.

overrated? yes!

No less well written though. Truly a joy to read, especially compared to other pieces of "theory", if you want to call this pamphlet theory.
The essential thoughts of Marx and Engels that hold up surprisingly well.

I lean more anarchist, but Marx is undeniably prophetic

I disagree strongly with Marx's view of economic determinism. I feel he puts too little emphasis on the role of humans in their own society. However, there are sections of this book that are written in such a conveying manner that his own passion for the subject is plain to the reader. The ending was particularly moving, even if I have no intention of becoming a Communist.
