Loving the covers on this one. "Dark Age" is right, things are looking pretty freaking dim for our heroes. It must be tons of fun to completely reimagine the DC universe and change key storylines that have been around for 50+ years. This is cool and I'm super curious how everything's going to go down.

Definitely the strongest volume so far. After 3 volumes of build up we finally get action.

This was suprisingly good! After the last two volumes being quite bad and forgettable, we have an awesome upgrade in quality here.

The dialogue issue is no more, the pacing is excellent, the battles thrilling, the story interesting, the characters more appealing.

I'm actually surprised since I had given up on this series. I saw that the writer changed and oh boy does it make a difference!

Really liked Aquawoman here. Lois too. The villains were nice too.

My only qualm is that Khalid just did nothing here.

I don't know if it was because my expectations were so low but really liked this one.

I wasn’t crazy about [b:Earth 2, Vol. 1: The Gathering|15797953|Earth 2, Vol. 1 The Gathering|James Robinson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1356417993l/15797953._SY75_.jpg|21428261] so I bailed on the series, but I saw that Tom Taylor had taken it over so I went straight for that. This is essentially a variation on the theme of Injustice, with a Darkseid-controlled Superman laying waste to the planet, which is right in Taylor’s wheelhouse. It’s saddled with baggage from the earlier books and it doesn’t flow quite as effortlessly, but even half-strength Taylor is better than most other writers.

Since I started watching “Stargirl” on the CW, I’ve been on a JSA kick. A lot of these collections are re-reads for me, but I’m enjoying them nonetheless. After Robinson’s departure, Taylor ignores a bunch of plot threads that were left dangling and takes us on his own ride. It’s fun, and more coherent than Volume 3.
