So much happens in this book - action keeps on coming. Poor Peter never gets a break.
Honestly can't get enough of this series - such a good balance between police procedural, supernatural, and snark.

What. The. Fuck. Lesley!!! WHAT THE FUCK! I feel so betrayed despite understanding why she did what she did, but still. So disappointed in her.

I love this series. I love London. I love Peter Grant, not in the least in a romantic way. He is so young and I find him quite touching. He takes me on a fantastic ride in each of the volumes, through his eyes I see the wonder and the horror. The way he tells his story is funny and entertaining, and I admire the skill of the writing behind it all. I usually do not read much crime fiction, but here, with this believable mix of mundane police work and the magical, I adore it. And the end of volume four just about broke my heart.
By the way: I started by reading the books and then switched to listening to them. The added value with all the voices and the accents is immense! One of the best voice actors ever.

This one's more of a three because I caught myself skimming a few times, but I'd still recommend it. The entire series has been great.

Fabulous addition to the story. My only complaint is how long I have to wait till the next one comes out.
Not as good as the first book, Rivers of London (aka Midnight Riot), the one features more of PC Peter Grant and another supernatural killer and tense situations that could destroy all of London. It's book 4, which I didn't know, but my missing bits from 2 and 3 didn't seem to matter to understanding what was going on. A quick fun read.
This series is continuing to improve with each book. That said, I feel like the plots are still a bit confusing at times. Part of this stems from the fact that there are often a number of incidents/cases that out main characters investigate, only to then be abandoned while our characters move on to whatever ends up being the main case of the book. Sometimes these side cases are then tied back into the main one in a meaningful way, and other times they play a less important role. That said, I continue to enjoy these books, especially the cast of characters. Can't wait for the next one, especially after that ending!
Noooooo was not expecting that twist! Love being surprised though.
