I was somewhat disappointed with the sequel.
it was mostly with how the main character acted and my expectations were cut short

now to the main reason I wrote this (terrible) review...
FUCKING CLIFFHANGERS!!! like the worst cliffhanger I have ever read. it's not just 1 cliffhanger, but 3 separate. like STUFF HAPPENED in literally the last 5 pages i did not see coming and i can't even tell you how fucked up i felt...it kinda went

"okay it's gonna end soon"
1st cliffhanger i saw coming since it was building up
"ok, wait, really? you're just gonna do that?"
"OMG what are you doing?"
2nd cliffhanger surprised me a lot/little, i kinda saw it coming
"huh?"
"wait, WTF???"
"NO you...fine"
3rd cliffhanger hit me in the face like an invisible brick wall
"huh?"
"wait, what?"
"what's happening?"
"WAIT WTF YOU'RE GONNA LEAVE IT AT THAT?!?!"
...and then i threw my kindle

WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT BOOK COMES OUT TO BUY THIS ONE

I love this series so much! It's incredibly unsettling and just...well, creepy. It's perfect for fans of horror movies, especially the ones that deal with serial killers (think Copycat or Silence of the Lambs). Billy Dent deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with those cinema icons (Buffalo Bill, John Doe from Se7en and, of course, Hannibal Lecter) but where these books really succeed is when the reader's attention is on Jazz.

Jazz is, generally speaking, a pretty awesome kid. He's smart and super charming. Except that there's a dark side---as naturally there would be when your dad is one of the most notorious serial killers ever. And Billy Dent taught his son well. So far, Jazz has managed to get past his dad's teachings, but he's always aware of just how easy it would be to kill people and get away with it.

(Did that last sentence give you the creeps? Because it should. Think about it---there's this teenage boy and he would absolutely be able to kill you and get away with it.)

But Jazz is determined to be better than his dad. He works to catch killers (inasmuch as a teenage boy is allowed to do such a thing) and he tries to be a good boyfriend and best friend. (And oh, I love Connie and Howie so much---especially Howie, the world's best best friend.)

I'm hoping there will be at least one more book to come. (Especially after that ending!)

Highly recommended.

Yay! No second story syndrome here. Game is another story sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

You need to suspend your disbelief of bringing a teenager to help to make the story work. I could understand it in the first book. It’s in his town and there were major similarities to his father’s case. This one is harder to believe. The mystery was really great. Things weren’t adding up so you never knew what to think. The twistedness of the big reveal was interesting.

I wasn’t a big fan of how stupid the characters were acting. Jazz knows how things work so to see him ignore and break laws was frustrating. Connie is a smart girl but man did she act dumb. What did she think she would accomplish? Her plan was so stupid and dangerous. With that said, my stomach still dropped when we finished her section of the book. Howie was quite stupid as well but I could almost understand his paranoia. Look at all the other crazy things happening. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for Jazz’s aunt to be a killer.

The bottom line? Great installment!
