It was a slow start for me but it definitely picked up and the plot became interesting enough that I had to know more.

Maggie keeps her white hair hidden because it causes too much of a stir. While trying to talk her way out of a failing grade because she didnโ€™t complete the assignment, she is thrust into a world of magic she didnโ€™t know existed.
As she tries to navigate this new normal, she meets another outsider and those who have always known, but nobody really knows what she is. Too many are trying desperately to find out. All while typical rivalry among groups is ramped up by the fact these people have magic.
What is her background, why does it all seem to both fit and not? This is what we want to know.

I didn't expect to finish this book in 2 days, but I did. I couldn't rate it any higher because of the POV jumping and a few notable unedited sections. That being said, I'm actually excited to read book 2 of this series, I'm super interested to see how HBCU themes play out with creatures and magic.

I have not read something like this before, and even with the parts I disliked I have high hopes and curiosity for the other books in the series.
