what i expected to have been a manifesto of genius by a selfish, cruel man, turned out to be a study of the definition of humanity and it's many complex aspects.
the movies i have thusfar watched based off this story, do the original text no justice. whereas usually this story is told as a horror, a thriller, a monster story; the original is a timeless masterpiece that challenges one's understanding of humanity, morality and revenge. is a monster defined that way due to his actions, his appearance, or do his decisions and opinions weigh heavier? or is it a sickly amalgamation of all of it combined? is a human able to be defined by the same standards?

this was a masterpiece and so heartwrenchingly pure and raw that few books i tried have reached.
safe to say I loved it, but id even go as far as saying that i think this has become a new favourite of mine.

Sexism never stops. Although the introduction accepts that Mary Shelley was genius writer , they still spend almost half the introduction talking about her husband and his role in her writing... And even when they acknowledge credits has too often been given to Percy, they spend the next sentences talking about him.

Interesting writing - 3 perspectives nested one into the other as Russian Dolls. As a non-native English reader - the old English language phrasing and some words were a bit difficult to grasp. But indeed, so much better compared with any movie adaptation that I saw. The philosophical undertone of the book was a great surprise for me. Pity that I have read it so late in my life. But for a young reader is a great first invitation for reflection on the "creator - creation" relationship. Recommend - but please read it in a good translation in your native language (if you are not a native English speaker).
