Interesting writing - 3 perspectives nested one into the other as Russian Dolls. As a non-native English reader - the old English language phrasing and some words were a bit difficult to grasp. But indeed, so much better compared with any movie adaptation that I saw. The philosophical undertone of the book was a great surprise for me. Pity that I have read it so late in my life. But for a young reader is a great first invitation for reflection on the "creator - creation" relationship. Recommend - but please read it in a good translation in your native language (if you are not a native English speaker).

Overwhelmed by feelings of empathy and moral dilemmas. Everytime the monster explains himself, I can't help but sympathize. I have similar experiences of my own. I once was full of hope and life until certain events brought me down. Sometimes pursuit can lead to your own ruin, I am again reminded as someone who's also a victim of my own passions in fulfilling my own goals. Our minds continue to fool us into imagined destinies and determinations that we often forget that we have complete power over them. These were what both characters failed to do. Both were agitated by pursuit of each other's destruction even at the end of their lives.

this book is amazing and deals with a lot of topics: love, grief, depression and so much more. it’s also exactly what i love about gothic novels, at face value it’s an eerie story about a monster and his creator but you can dig so much deeper into the hidden meanings of it and create your own interpretation of it
