Wow! This book and I went through a journey together. I started off listening to it as an audiobook; but didn't like it at all. The narrator was too fast, and I found the prose really challenging. So, I switched to a paperback and started from the beginning. After struggling a bit; (I think it's like chapter 4 when that letter from Elizabeth starts to introduce Victor's family... that shit fucked me up) I finally got to enjoyed this classic. This was my first time reading this ever and it genuinely made me emotional at times. I never gave classics a chance until recently. So I'd recommend this if you're hesitant like I was!

A compelling tale of the complexities of the human experience and society’s innate tendency to judge those who are different or who do not fit into the ideal image of ‘perfection’ and ‘beauty’.

I found the novel at times hard to read and follow, simply due to the era of writing, and mostly listened to the audiobook. I think it’s a must read for those who like classics as the morality discussed within appeals to all humans. I think it was overly descriptive in parts, but I find it hard to critique classics from this period, as a lot could be simply missed or go over my head, due to the language and societal differences.

Overall, an everlasting message critiquing society’s role in shaping the lives and attitudes of the human experience.
