A lot of this book was interesting. It just didn’t flow as well as I would have liked. Also there wasn’t as satisfying of an ending as I would have liked. Which isn’t his fault. It’s a true story and he can’t change the ending.

This is a first hand account of one man's help in exploring a hidden city submerged in the Honduran jungle. Sound like a boring, dry travelogue? Absolutely not! Douglas Preston, a journalist for the National Geographic, the American Museum of Natural History,(and other publications) presents a fascinating history of the fabled White City in Honduras which has escaped the reach of Western civilization for over 500 years. Until the early 20th century, archaeologists have attempted, but failed to penetrate the utter depths of the mountain ringed jungles of this, the seemingly last explored place in Central America. But, word has come back that a strange lost city built by a civilization separate from the Mayas exists, perhaps containing treasure in gold, but certainly in scientific value.
In 2012, Mr. Preston joined a team of archeologists, and professional jungle explorers to trace the existence of the White City which has finally been confirmed by the latest technology, called ground penetrating Lidar.
The result is an exciting story of man versus nature as the team struggles against so many odds to bring artifacts of the Lost City of the Monkey God to light.
