Really sweet “coming home” story and a nice play on the siblings best friend. Loved the feel of Louisiana and how natural Tyler and Lauren were together. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the series.

An enjoyable read about dealing with grief, long-time crushes, and fighting for what you want.

Very cute romance. I love novellas and this one was able to put a good full story into a shorter form. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series and hopefully it'll let us know more about the future of these characters.

Soft story coping with grief and fighting for own happiness

This is a great novella that packs a lot of emotion in only a few hours reading. Tyler and Lauren are dealing with grief after her sister is killed in action and story takes place over the weekend as Lauren is packing Brandy’s things. Around the sadness of loss Tyler and Lauren use humor as a coping mechanism and Lauren finds strength to fight for herself and what she wants - including a relationship with Tyler.

Content warnings: on page sex, MC with history of (recent) manipulative ex and coping with aftermath, MC whose parents had manipulative history, central arc of grief, some misogynistic comments from side character.

DNF - not terrible, but stressful to me. Lauren lies to others all the time (I got almost halfway through) for no particular reason. It was causing me stress, to no purpose I could see, so I stopped reading this one.
