Loved this 2 part series! I did think that the death of Marley could have had a bit more suspense and more detail but I enjoyed it nonetheless! I always adore a happy ending with these books and the mythical aspect to it was very interesting 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing was happening. And the smut wasn’t worth the lack of plot.

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me around halfway. There was so much happening and so many POVs that the story became difficult to follow. We had way too many balls (hehe) in the air and not enough time in each scene to understand what was going on. Every chapter was a different character’s POV (including the villain and Mia’s animal spirit)
Between the relationship drama, the impending heat and sexual awakening, the villain, the family reunion, deciding whether to take on the role of heir, magic and fight training, super special weapon bonding, super special legendary immortal shifter spirits, all on TOP of Mia’s extreme PTSD and extreme naivety about well… EVERYTHING, it was like literary whiplash.
Instead of taking things slowly and breaking up what is probably enough content for a 5 book series, the author smushed everything into a duet to all happen concurrently. This means we just get a teaspoon of each conflict rather than a full cup. Sadly, this wasn’t enough to keep me engaged or invested in the story. I would have like to see the author pick one main focal point and then maybe one or two side conflicts to focus on and save the others for future books rather than try to fit in and resolve everything in one.
