I have been anxiously waiting for Star And Conor's story and Serena Akeroyd did not pull any punches with this book! It is addictive and action-packed, from page one until the end!
This couple has been doing the LDR dance for 2 years, and finally, FINALLY, they end up in Croatia together under suspicious circumstances wrought with a lot of outside influence and manipulation. Star has a lot baggage, and rightly so after what she has been through. But Conor has the patience of a Saint, he is calm and reassuring and laser focused on her needs and triggers. He is swoony worthy and so very dreamy.
The chaos and calamity that seems to follow Star and Conor is complicated but captivating at the same time. I cannot wait for Filthy Truths!!!

3.5 stars. Here's the thing - I think so often we rate books based on how "great" the writing is. Serena Akeroyd has this ability to write to the characters that I haven't noticed in any other writer. That's to say that Star and Conor's books feel different than the other books - which is appropriate considering the personalities of Star & Conor. Another puzzle piece is that her writing is not going to appeal to everyone - it's not "great literature" - but I definitely don't think that's what she's going for.
All that in mind though - I am a Serena Akeroyd Stan. There is something about her world, her characters, and the writing that is 100% comfort food for me. I KNOW I will like a Akeroyd book. It might not be my favorite, and it might not be the best book I read - but it will be that comfortable book that I know will make me happy and I never have to be stressed that she's going to pull some absurd b*s that's going to make me hate the characters she wants me to love.
It was soooooo long though and I think she gets a bit bogged down in details and extra plot twists that we don't really need... but still love her.

I've just finished reading this book, and all I can say is WOW!
This book has so many feelings in it. I went from smiling at something Conor said or did that was thoughtful or sweet to crying over a shared memory.
Conor always had some type of candy on hand, in his pockets, for Star was so thoughtful and sweet it made me melt. Every time he pulled a different type out, I wondered where he was keeping all of it, then I just thought how thoughtful it was of him to always have something on him just for her.
No matter the situation, Conor always seemed to know just the right thing to say to Star to make her feel better or to diffuse a situation. These two spent two years flirting online, and we have waited for this moment. The author did not disappoint. It was not anticlimactic. It was everything and more than I could have ever dreamed of.
Both characters are survivors of SA. They have approached their relationship very openly, telling each other what triggers they have. Everything they have done is so romantic and so them. I just can't say how much this couple means to me.
The way the book ended makes me glad there is such a short wait for Filthy Truth.

The first time I saw you, I was supposed to hug you and kiss you. I wasn’t supposed to be attacked by a chair and then have to defend my goddamn honor.” He huffed.

Oh how I was waiting for this book. Star and Connor’s book has been a very long time coming and I was so excited to read it. And this book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. I just adored every second of this book.
I just adored the relationship so much. Star and Connor both suffered a lot of abuse in their past and they both care for each other and try to guide each other through the difficult situations. I just loved how they always listened to each other and their needs and how patient with each other they were. I must admit that so many scenes in this book just had me cry while I was crying due to how adorable they were, they just melted my heart so much. Angst with a lot of hurt/comfort is my favourite thing to read about in books and I was served with this one.
I just loved the relationship progression so much. I loved the slow burn in this one. It just really worked with their relationship and the characters. I just loved seeing all the tender moments between Star and Connor and slowly seeing the way in which they got together.
Also, I’m a sucker for anything long distance or characters who text each other in books and I just adored this part of this book so much.
I really enjoyed this entire series, so it’s no surprise that I was really invested in the mafia aspects of this book, and I just wanted to see where everything would go. I’m just so engaged in this world and I always want more.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion

4.25⭐️
Serena Akeroyd honestly has me in a chokehold when it comes to this world that she has created. Star and Conor were 100% worth the wait and they are now my favourite couple. I loved seeing how their online relationship translated over into real life and Conor is now on my book boyfriend list very near the top. There were just too many cute moment to count when it came to these two.
Star is still the same badass we have come to know and love and I loved learning more about her past.
Mafia bases romance is one of my favourite tropes to read but what really set this book and series from others is the plot. I love the attention detail and how everything just connects so perfectly. I cant say too much without spoiling but I would highly recommend reading this book as this world will blow your mind.
Thank you to Valentine Pr and the author for providing me with an arc.

Cats cradle.
That’s all I could think about while reading this book. You know, that childhood game with string wrapped around your fingers, and every move makes them more crisscross and everything keeps getting pulled in tighter and tighter? THAT is this book. I have NO idea how she keeps everything straight when she’s writing, but I imagine her sequestered in a room that looks remarkably like Bear’s murder hotel room, with interconnecting strings running everywhere. How has almost every facet of everyone’s lives managed to be so interconnected and orchestrated to meet a certain agenda??? Cats. Cradle.
The writing is naturally impeccable, as always. Her skill is unparalleled. She’s a literary mastermind with not only this crazy world and amazingly developed characters she’s given us, but this wild roller coaster ride it has taken us on. I have NO idea what is going to happen next, and for the only time in my life, I do not care. I am here for the ride. I know it’s going to be amazing when I get there.
But, oh, that cliffhanger……
