Im not Usually the dream hunters greatest fan, But a jackal shifter im onboard!
Lydia and Seth were a great couple! Seth's complete ignorance to any kindness and not understanding it for what it was, Luckily Lydia seemed pretty stubborn on the Matter.
It was a great story as most of the Dark hunter world search for "the key", and while Seth uses Lydia as leverage against Solin who knows of the keys whereabouts, she succumbs to Stockholm syndrome and falls in love.
The only reason its not a five star is the ending was really rushed..... significant things happened to make the story complete but they were merely glossed over..... like the author thought i cant be bothered to explain all that, Let them just show up and put the rest in the epilogue.

wow after reading the last book (Retribution) is was putting this one off for a while in case i was as disappointed... man wish now that i hadn't done that.
This felt like a total return to classic Kenyon. I love the story line and the twisted nature of the Hero. What better way to tame a wild beast then to force him face to face with a beautiful and seemingly unattainable "lily". Love the historical references as always and the return to our Greek pantheon as a focus with sidelines in common Egyptian mythos was much appreciated.
The Guardian restored my faith in the Hunter Series. I can now say unequivocally that i do really look forward to the next book in this series.
4.25 stars for this one. Love Love Love!
p.s. are we ever gonna get enough info on Jaden.

This. This scratched an itch so very few books do.
I think that this is more of a 4.5 star but since I rated the previous book a four star and I enjoyed this one much more, it deserves a bit of a bump. I agree with everyone that this book does feel like a return to the earlier novels in this series and for that I quite enjoyed it. I felt that Seth and Lydia were great characters and I enjoyed being a part of their struggles and victories. That being said, the ending was a bit abrupt and I wish that SK had given us more back story as to how all the lose ends were tied up. Gotta say though, the Dark Hunter novels never fail to please!
3.5 stars.
The first 100 pages I wasn't too impressed. The story was similar, I believe, to at least a chunk of [b:Dream Warrior|2992069|Dream Warrior (Dark-Hunter, #17; Dream-Hunter, #4)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1232028639s/2992069.jpg|3022533]. Lydia is taken hostage by Seth for quite a bit of this book, so that was a little disappointing. However after those 100 pages I settled into the story and didn't think much about similarity to a previous installment.
I loved Seth. I just wanted to hold him and not let anyone else hurt him.
I wasn't as enamored with Lydia. I didn't hate her by any means but there were times I thought she was incrediably dense. One example was when Seth had explained that he wasn't there doing the things he did by choice, and a little bit later she asks him something along the lines of 'did he do anything else beside sit in his room and read when he was alone' when Seth answered no she said 'well that's kind of pathetic don't you think'. And that bothered me. A lot. He has just recently (within 24 hours) told her that he was a slave there, he wasn't torturing people because he wanted to, he had to. It's not like Nior and the other one are going to let him roam free. I just thought that was incredibly stupid and insensitive of Lydia and I wanted to slap her up side the head.
However despite some instances of annoyance with Lydia and the similar situation to another book in the series, I still enjoyed the book. Couldn't put it down at all today.

The Guardian (Dream-Hunter #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Nobody writes emotionally and physically scarred alpha males redeemed by love like Sherrilyn Kenyon. In this latest installment of the Dream-Hunter series we meet demi-god Seth who has been tortured by Noir and Azura for 4500 years before he is saved by dream-hunter katagaria mix Lydia.
If you like Sherrilyn Kenyon you will love this.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a go to author for me.. I'm just about caught up on the Dark Hunters Series. This book ya can't help put be rooting for the main character. With all he has gone through if anyone deserves to be happy it is him. Loved it.
I really enjoyed this story! It reminded me of the earlier Dark-Hunter books. It had most of the elements in it that hooked me to this series. A tortured (literally) hero and a kick-ass female willing to do anything for her man.
There were a few spots that had me saying -- yeah, right -- but for the most part this was a great story. The Dream-Hunter branch of the series is usually not my favorite, but I really enjoyed this one. I love Solin (and can't wait for HIS book). There was a bit more revealed towards the bigger picture in this one, and it'll be interesting to see where things go from here. Plus . . . my very favorite Dark-Hunter makes a (very brief) appearance in this book.
I can't wait to start [b:Time Untime|12077553|Time Untime (Dark-Hunter, #17)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1317313774s/12077553.jpg|17045364]!

Opps ... read this one out of order.
Seth & Lydia ... Man, this book is hard to read in spots. Seth's existence has been B.R.U.T.A.L.!! How he's still sane is amazing.
Lydia is just badass.
