Had this book on my bookcase for a long time and is now reading it. I have to say that I really liked this story. Seth's story is right up there with Zarak and Ash.
Wasn't as good as I was expecting. Feels like a placeholder story, just something to keep readers going until the next book.
I did like it though. The characters had great chemistry, but it was there and done too quickly. Not as involved as much of Kenyon's other works.
Interesting insights however to other characters; Jaden and Noir in particular. There are references to Amy and Fang running Sanctuary so we at least get a good sense of the timeline here.
All in all, not bad, not great, but still worth it for your collection.

I was glad to see some of the characters I like in the series in this book. Compared to the last book (Retribution), The Guardian went back to why I like the series. Granted there weren't any 'Dark Hunters' in this book, it was a Were/Dream book with a cameo of the Hellchaser Thorin. I do have to say I loved Seth (who's an Egyptian demigod) & Lydia.
Welcome back to the Dark Hunters!
I am loving the new Gods we're being introduced to - Egyptian Gods have always been fascinating to me (almost as much as the Greeks) & I love that they get some time (albeit very short).
Seth is a VERY tortured soul & when you finally learn his story you'll either love him or hate him, but I'm betting on the former if you're a DH fan.
I'm looking forward to the next installment now that the quality of story seems to be coming way back up. Welcome back Sherilyn! :-)

The Dark Hunters have become so hit or miss that I almost don't want to read them. The last one was so disappointing that I almost took a pass on this one. Glad I didn't.
Although this doesn't move the back story along much, it has a very nice romance. The story isn't bogged down in side plots and the action stay steady throughout. Still the story is the tortured soul, who hasn't had any good in his life but deep down has his morals straight and the woman who sees into him and releases the good in him. We've seen this story before with the series, Zarak, Wren, Acheron, etc... Their life starts out harsh and doesn't get easier until they meet their lady. Still these are the ones I enjoy most. Still this one wasn't up to those for some reason. I believe it was just too many misunderstanding and the quick forgiveness- flip flop. So had to dock the point.
