These characters! I loved this perfect. It was the best fluffy YA romance I think I’ve ever read. I love the Seattle setting, and the mystery element added to it with the HOWL contest! Ugh my fav
I am surprised by so many of the reviews being negative in terms of a book about a teen in Seattle featuring social justice issues on a major level... I think I'd have been more disappointed if they weren't in there. Also, Rowan isn't vegan. Her parents are, but she loves cheese. Just a random thing I observed in comments about the various "agendas." Also, at no point did it feel like the author was pushing veganism or even vegetarianism as an agenda anyway. Neil, in fact, is a carnivore.
That aside, I truly loved this book. Rowan swears a lot, but so did I at her age (and honestly, I still do). I find it unrealistic when people don't swear, just like on network tv where you just KNOW if it weren't for censorship, at least most of the characters would swear in specific situations.
I also loved the way Rowan talks openly about her sexual experiences, but this is undoubtedly also something that will offend some because it's a YA book. Again, this made it far more realistic for me than most YA books where the characters never have sex or discuss it, or it's merely hinted at, glossed over, and not outright stated.
To those who wish the book had dual POV, the sequel will be told from both Neil and Rowan's perspectives. I'm eager to read it, but I have a long(ish) wait, since it isn't out for five months!

read this bc someone from the publisher told me I should and I’m nothing if not a shameless suck up
This was a cute book about a senior who loves romance books and is teased about the genre. Honestly I understand her if not for my bestie Noemi who would I gush about these silly little romances? The author makes some really great points about how romance is a genre that shouldn’t be mocked or reduced and I appreciate the news lens.
The romance was sooooo good I hated the conflict felt so unnecessary and she said something so fowl I wouldn’t forgive her. But alas our mmc is a cinnamon roll or I just love him

medium-paced
4.5/5 stars!
I really liked it being such a cute romance novel. I thought it was interesting how the whole story took place over just one day…I’ve never read a book like that before, and it made the pacing feel fresh and different in a good way. However, because it’s all happening in one day, some moments did feel a little rushed or unrealistic, but I didn’t mind too much.
Also, when romance books throw in a game or competition as a part of the plot for the characters, it can either really work or just feel awkward and forced. Luckily, the author did a great job making the game feel fun and believable.
Overall, super cute and definitely worth the read!
