Great book, I loved the subjects tackled i just feel like it could have been done better
while im by no means a writer the ending is very much, everyone gets what they want/the best possible outcome given the situation. I heard that the story was one where it left you asking if the characters deserved their fate. I dont think it did that though. Maybe it would have if the story was more harrowing, if jurgen died, after all he did watch hundreds of jewish people die while building his rockets, does his guilt over it mean he deserves any less punishment? Idk im not a writer but at the end of the day we can all agree that Lydia can go f*** herself

Really good read - once I really started it, it was hard to put it down. Fun to see Huntsville, Alabama appear on page one - rare that stories take place in places I know!

This book took me too long to finish and I was surprised looking back that I gave it four stars but then I started thinking about it and it makes sense.

There are some characters who development I don't fully understand but I did like that the perspective this is coming from is different from a lot of world war two written books. No one in this story is a hero or a clear cut good or bad person. It's interesting to see that.

I’ve never heard of Operation Paperclip before this but man, what a complicated situation, bringing German Scientists - so many potential and confirmed former Nazi’s - for the sake of scientific advancement. Such ethical and moral blurring.

Ms Rimmer did an excellent job portraying how complicated things were for Germans in the Rhodes’ position - how one compromise led to another and eventually snowballed until you were trapped. And the price they paid from doing so.

It also displayed how easy it is to allow discrimination and hatred to take root without considering what someone else went thru or what remorse they felt from their mistakes.

Very well written - you empathized with both Lizzie and Sophie thru the whole book.
