This is the kind of novel that, if I weren't so busy with college, I would have finished in a day. I thoroughly loved it. This is the first time in a while that I can say with complete honestly that I will miss this main character. Martha, and all of the characters, became very special to me over the course of this novel. I can't say much more besides I highly recommend this novel to everyone.

This book is so good. When you read it, on my recommendation, you will be like ohhhh yeah this is so Kate. So that may be enough but the humor will really bring it home. I’m heartbroken it’s over. I didn’t really cry during it but I’m terribly emotional having finished it. Anyway. A+! Read immediately! My best friend Ann Patchett agrees.

There is a line in this book that moved me to tears because it was simultaneously beautiful and tragic at once:

‘My father gave a small shrug. ‘I loved her unfortunately.’’

I thought this was a wonderfully sad book about loving someone with a mental illness - or, even, loving someone at all.
