A fun adventure of young boys in the US, full of adventures and charming in many ways. At the same time, we get to see many of the prejudices that existed and still exists in the US and around the world and how they often are inherited from the parents and the adults, while they don't really exists in children, they only repeat what they've heard but are quick to give them up in a world of child, full of adventures.

Tom vividly brings to life the trials and tribulations of being a small boy as well as the freedom and joy of this life too. Adventures abound in this story (where I doubt the adults saw much of the kids from breakfast to dinner) as well as a horror story lurking underneath it all... Now I'm not so surprised that the white washing fence scenario gets referenced so much!

Loved this version, it really refelct the spirit of the orignal kid oriented book. I think the characters and drama carried through very well.

Another classic by Mark Twain. Though I liked Huckleberry Finn better (I always wanted to take a summer and flot down the Mississippi!), Tom Sawyer was a delightful read also. His commentary on the difference between work and play is an intriguing insight into human nature and thought, and fully consistent with modern day theories of motivation.

Cute and fun, quite uncomfortable to read though with the time period it was set in (slavery). The casualness of it is annoying but that's not the main priority of the book anyways.
