This is a very thorough history of the civil wars between Lancaster and York, as well as the motivating factors. My only gripe is that there is a fair bit of vitriol directed at Elizabeth Woodville and Baroness Rivers, which comes of as aggressively misogynistic. The author seems to loathe these women, and for no apparent reason. It was very jarring.

Found the narration difficult to concentrate.

I am so glad that Ms. Weir included the family tables in the back of the book. It was hard to keep track of all the Richards, Henrys, and Edwards.

This book was a great primer for the Wars of the Roses and it cleared up a lot of my questions about the era. I had no idea that Margaret of Anjou was such a major part of this story until I read this book. I wish there was a biography out there about her. Maybe there is?

Overall, a good historical novel.
The preamble was quite long and descriptive in parts, took quite a long time to get into the war of roses. Not all the content was relevant.
