This book is one of the better P&P variations. The plot is reasonable and well progressing, the language is time appropriate and the work of professional editor is visible.
Elizabeth and Darcy's behaviour is actually more or less what I imagined it to be after the canonical engagement.

If this book hadn’t been a re-telling of Pride and a Prejudice I would have given it a 4 star at least. The story had a nice spin and kept somewhat to the characters in the original book, but it felt too much of a copy the best lines (even if you have them spoken by other characters) and even scenes from the book and movie versions of P&P and left no surprises if you are at all familiar with the story. I found myself skipping through to the original sections as I wanted to separate the “new” story with the “old.” Wish she had instead written a story “influenced by P&P” or with faint hints of it but with characters of different names or a different era or location.

I would be interested in reading a book fully conjured up by this author as she had a nice writing style... at least the parts that she added to the story.

Reread: Just as good the second time around. Personally, E should have made D grovel, more than just a little bit, for ditching her after raising her expectations. What a Bingley thing to do!

Another amazing P&P variation from this author - she's becoming a favourite of mine. I love her nods to her own form of fanon, such as the names of servants and Lizzy's fondness for lemon tarts.
I love the chemistry between ODC and the changes made in this variation were charming and believable.

This Pride and Prejudice variation begins after Jane and Elizabeth have left Netherfield after Jane's illness.
One morning while at riding Darcy sees Elizabeth as a tree falls near her. This scare awakes his feelings for her, and Elizabeth sees a different side to Darcy. Is the path of love smooth?
Loved it.
