Though the plot was ridiculous, the setting was sufficiently creepy and it was engaging enough to read in one night.

This book is by the same author who wrote "The Time Traveler's Wife" and "The Memory Keeper's Daughter," and I liked it as much as both those books. It features identical twins who inherit a London flat from their aunt, and try to solve the mystery of why their aunt and their mom (also identical twins) grew apart, and whether they should grow apart as well. And their aunt is now a ghost haunting the flat.

Liked:
- concept
-non-scary ghost story
-Subplot with obsessive compulsive

Disliked:
- twin dying, aunt taking over body
- got creepy toward the end with the whole dead body in the apartment thing
- cannot hold a candle to The Time Traveler's Wife

Most of my disappointment probably comes from the fact that I loved TTTW, and this is not as good. I still think it's a good read, but I will always recommend TTTW over this. I like how Audrey Niffenegger imagines things.

Hugely disappointing. While not as good as The time Traveler's Wife, I was with this book all the way until Valentina's decision. It all fell apart for me there. I did not feel her motivation and I did not believe that Robert would go along with it, so the rest was kind of ridiculous.

Good book although a bit freaky at times.

I bought this book forever ago and when I saw the low GR rating, I got nervous about reading it and kept putting it off. It was a fine story. Just as with her novel, you have to suspend quite a bit of belief in what you feel to be true about people and the world we live in. I never read synopsis or maybe I would have known this was a ghost story. It was definitely quirky and memorable and one I won’t hesitate to pass along. If you want a ghost story, but don’t want something spooky this could be right up your alley.

Very cryptic book about two sets of twins.

If I could give this book three and a half stars I would because that is what I feel it is. I really like Audrey Niffenegger's writing. She does write beautifully and I was gripped at several points, but I did end up feeling a bit disappointed with the way things turned out. Still, I believe this book is still worth a read if only for the beautiful writing!

In the words of my friend's mother-in-law - "stupid!"

Oh, how I wanted this book to be as good as _The Time Traveler's Wife_. The story had so much potential, and the characters were really interesting. But the writing wasn't as refined and the ending was disappointing. There are details within the story that are boring and irrelevant, and the plot takes a turn that I can only describe as cuckoo bananas.

Niffenegger came to a local bookstore to read from her book and she was fascinating to see and hear. I'm glad I had the chance to see her in person and I hope her next venture will be more satisfying.
