As I trans person, I have to give props to any trans authors writing texts for trans youth. I feel like this one way missed the mark though. The premise feels SO forced and doesn't make sense, and won't make sense for a kid either, I don't think.

At the very least, this book will introduce that some people don't feel happy as their assigned / assumed gender, and feel very happy as a different gender. But that's it.

I also was under the assumption that the author is non-binary, so framing the gender conversation as boy being "backward" from girl strikes me as odd.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the execution was way off.
