A curious book I need more time to think on. She clearly has a way with words- pointed and clear, able to render her own life conjoined with the lives of her subjects; but I can’t help but sense a tension in her observation of social events have her balancing on a chain link fence hovering both feet over the sides. It provides important context but leaves her trapped and forced to hover. Sometimes luminous sometimes shrouded.
