J'adore.

What it's about: Eleanor is the new girl, who doesn't fit it. She wears man clothes and has bright red hair. Park is the half-Korean boy, who doesn't want to give up the other half of his bus seat. Slowly they build a bond over comics and music, a bond that turns into something so much more.
What I thought: Eleanor and Park is a sweet, romantic, boy-meets-girl type of story. The way it's written, makes it so much more than all the other stories like this. Eleanor is the girl that gets bullied. She dresses and acts weird, has bright red hair and is slightly chubby, despite the fact that she doesn't eat much. Eleanor also has secrets. Secrets like she doesn't get to shower very often and doesn't even own a toothbrush. Living with her mother, her evil step-father and her four siblings sure makes life even harder. Park is the average-height half-Korean boy, who gets along with everyone fine. He takes tae-kwon-do lessons and would be allowed to get his licence if he could just learn to drive a stick with his dad in the car. Eleanor shakes up his world and he falls for her in the hardest way possible.
Together, they slowly explore what it means to be friends and what it means to be in love. This book is beautifully written and will capture your attention right until the very end. You will root for Eleanor and Park.
The Good: This story slowly builds up, and watching Park and Eleanor fall deeper for each other is beautiful.
The Bad: To be honest, I didn't really like the way this novel ended.
Rating: 4 Bookstacks

Really good YA novel about young love. Eleanor lives in an abusive household, is bullied at school, and endures poverty. She meets Park, a boy from a nice family, and the two fall in love. They are torn apart when Eleanor has to flee from her abusive step-father. Makes for a really good story.
