Recently, I read a review from someone who said this book is racist. I read it when it came out (2013) so I don't remember.

I did remember that part about the eyeliner. I liked that part and I liked Park's characterization, especially because at that age, I'd never read something like that in a published book before.

Good book - at times hard to read, but a very good book

erm where’s the plot

More like 3.5 stars. It took me a little bit of time to buy into this book. I was turned off that some of the characters were throwing around racial slurs as jokes in the beginning. It didn't serve any kind of purpose. But once Eleanor and Park's relationship started to become more serious and the book started delving into more serious topics, it became more interesting.
