Stories from the Tsunami
A short account of the Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004, with accounts of a number of survivors. It focusses almost entirely on the tourists who were caught up in the terrible events of Boxing Day 2004. I had hoped to read a more in depth, detailed book convering the situation for the local population, the aftermath and recovery / rebuilding. Considering the devastation in Aceh, Indonesia and the overwhelming loss of life there, I was surprised it barely received a mention.
A short read, useful for a background and a sense of what people endured that fateful day.
Unfortunately it is not that well edited and a more thorough proof read would have picked up and rectified some errors in the text.
