I really wanted to like this book, the almost essayistic explorations of everyday situations as well as profound emotions difficult to even name, the daydreaming, the complex thought processes of the main character, and yet - I was simply bored. The bits and pieces of the main character’s intricate inner world that I could relate to were not enough to sustain my interest in the story. I still finished the book, but I can’t say that I particularly enjoyed the process.

I did not like this book. It was dull and slow and I can’t say that I cared for any of the characters. Maybe it would mean more if I was married, separated or divorced. 2 Stars is a generous rating.
