Quatre Quatuors

T.S. Eliot

4.3 AVERAGE

In my late Rossellini phase of edumacation

Listened to Sir Alec Guinness’s BBC radio recital of this, which greatly influenced young Terence Davies
reflective slow-paced

"I said to my soul, be
still, and let the
dark come upon
you"

"What was to be the value of the long looked forward to, long hoped for calm, the autumnal serenity
and the wisdom of age? Had they deceived us or deceived themselves, the quiet-voiced elders, bequeathing us merely a receipt for deceit?"

Eliot shattered me with the exquisite beauty of his words. How did he capture the agony and ecstasy of the human experience so beautifully and succinctly? I haven't been so moved in years.

This compilation is almost painfully short. It could be 4x longer and I'd still love it and recommend it.

This was a fun, quick read. Glad to have this in my repertoire now!
