I screwed  myself up by reading book 5 first. Then I went back and read all the other books. Some of the reviews hate on Josh for his behavior but
his survivors guilt is very real and well portrayed. He had a PTSD response and often that can be ugly. Two people in one relationship with PTSD is difficult.

After I read Full Measures, I wrote in my review that I didn't trust Josh to be completely faithful to Ember if there were to be a future story of closure to the (annoying) happy-for-now ending. Little did I know that in Hallowed Ground, the military would be Josh's mistress, taking priority over his relationship with Ember.

In this second story of Ember and Josh, their relationship is still centered around sex, and they act like addicts whose sole focus is to get that next hit.

Josh is portrayed as incredibly selfish, making decisions without consideration of the consequences to anyone else. Josh does whatever Josh wants. Infuriating!

And yet...

...I couldn't put this or Full Measures down.

Why is that?

Josh’s point of view broke my heart. I was so caught off guard that
Will died, I thought it was going to be Rizzo.
The angst was so good. I wish we got more of
Sam and grayson’s lives but still happy.
