Couldn't put this down -- Elizabeth Zott is the protagonist we all could use in this world of judgement and expectations.

I loved reading this book. The story is interesting and something to think about. The relationships in this book are all well written with a good background and all have an important meaning to Elizabeth. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy reading about the struggle of life and winning the battle against it.

A testament to how brilliant this book is, is how much it made me care about science, genuinely incredible from start to finish!!

There are five star books and then there are books that change you brain chemistry. No pun intended, this book joins that very rare list of mine.

The beautiful and clever writing of  Bonnie Garmus had me hooked to this heartbreaking but inspiring story. I love the characters and how much this story made me feel.

And my very favorite thing about this book: six-thirty and his POV.

This book deserves all the hype it gets and more.

just the characters so well done and the humour was so great and i LOVED the theme of grief and lies like how everything is tied together The feminism was a bit too modern to be believable but im just a hater it felt so simple but so important to put to print so grateful for that Also the chemistry<333 missed it and i love characters who are passionated by science so ughhh so cute and made me actually emotional ?? like my chest is a bit tight at the ending and i laughed out loud

I had lots of thoughts while reading this book. Here are the bullet points:

-there was hardly any plot until about half way.

-before the half-way point, it was just the author taking modern-day feminism and other modern-day standards and trying to fit them into the context of the '50s and '60s.

-she encouraged women who already have children to drop the responsibility of raising children and focus on themselves instead. For example, pursuing careers that require most of their attention, like medicine.

-Elizabeth Zott is a Karen.

-I get that most scientists don't believe in God, but this book almost made it seem like it was REDICULOUS to have such a belief.

-don't want to offend anyone with this one, but homosexuality is in fact not BIOLOGICALLY normal. And I feel like no one even thought this in the '50s. Back to my point of modern-day standards in a historical novel.

Favorite book of the year so far. Absolutely love the strength and conviction of Elizabeth Zott. I’m so inspired and grateful for women like her, who in the 50s and 60s, had to break the mold of what women “should” or “could” be. This is a fiction book but I know there were thousands of women like Elizabeth Zott that had to keep swimming against the stream and refused to give up. Thankfully! Such a powerful and brilliant book. 10 stars.
