Building on the ending of Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose is onward to a creepy castle to learn more about forensic science while grieving her brother. Thomas accompanies her and it doesn’t take long for bodies to start dropping around them, all smelling of garlic and having some tie to vampire lore.

I did really enjoy this but much like the previous book, it really went off the rails at the end. Think The Goonies but less swearing. I have to admit that I found myself glazing over at some of the discussions of royal bloodlines. It was somehow important and so boring to put together, and was resolved in like 2 pages. If half of that waffling and half of Audrey Roses’ internal mentions about proper societal behavior were cut, we’d have an appropriate sized book. Seriously, it got heavy and kind of hurt my wrist to hold.

It’s absolutely a fun enough read that I’ll continue the series.

I almost gave up because the first 1/3 of this book was so slow and kinda bored me out. BUT I was so glad that I put faith in it and continued on. The story paced up and became 10x more interesting after they discovered the underground tunnel. I was so shocked that
Anastasia was the one who planned and carried out all those murders. I have to apologize to Ileana because I firmly believed that she was the bad guy until the very end of the book.

Good gothic sequal that had me immersed in the atmosphere.

I loved the setting of this novel and the extra blood shed gave this a distinctly gothic feel. I also enjoyed the romance between Audrey Rose and Thomas as it felt natural and healthy. The arguments solved with discussion and mutual understanding. Thomas ensuring Audrey was able to maintain her independence was something i admired. It was also impressive that the trauma Audrey recieved in book one was not just magically overlooked. She continues to be plagued by this and has to find her own ways of managing which was refreashing. As usual the historical photos were also a major win for me.

Some things that didnt make this entirely perfect for me was some part of the novel felt dragged out and i found myself lacking in concentration at times. Also the writing in the letters was difficult to read allot of the time but this is probably due to my dyslexia.

All in all a fun gothic who done it with an atmospheric setting. Will definently be excited to read the third instalment

Absolutely adored this book. The wit, the humor, the strong females set in an Era that didn't appreciate strong women, the main male character, and his support. Just overall lovely. And I learned a few words in Romanian! Definitely recommend! I enjoyed book 1 as well don't get me wrong but this was a beautiful sequel.
