It was really good, it was creepy, and kept me on edge, but I felt like the ending was a bit of a letdown. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book and I felt like the "journey" was fun and it that sense, totally worth reading.

This was a solid thriller that held my attention. The overall premise was a little fantastical but I looked forward to being able to read it which tells me I was pretty into it.

I know this was a mystery and I should focus on the suspense, but I couldn’t get over how Skyler felt entitled to the trust money and that she was upset the family was contesting the will. She didn’t even remember the guy at first and had only met him once (over a decade ago), so it seemed very selfish and greedy to act this way. I don’t get why she’s so insistent she deserves the money or why she’s shocked the family thinks she shouldn’t keep it.

As for the main plot/mystery itself, it wasn’t developed well and largely overshadowed by Skyler’s poor personality. She was 38 but came across much younger and more immature. I also felt the ending wrapped up too nicely also.

Have you ever hate-read a book. Or rather, hate-listened to a book? From almost the first page, I hated the protagonist, LOATHED her. I don't know if it's because I'm in my 50's with two kids, but the idea of a 30-something who had a one night stand with a married man thinking she deserves the inheritance he gives her? And then gets worried that she might get only half? Not to mention that her problems override EVERY.SINGLE.PERSON she meets and interacts with throughout the novel? Get out of here. Gross.
