Did I do random chores and house cleaning just to be able to listen to the 5th installment of Kate Daniels? Darn straight I did, and my kitchen looks great! The voice actor is wonderfully versatile and I never have trouble telling one character from another in conversations. This book comes in at 13 hours 30 minutes. IE- Long enough that the dogs are walked, several loads of dishes are done, and I was able to take a stroll through Unicorn Lane with my favorite power couple.
Ilona Andrews delivers the deliciously wonderful book that finally gives me the bit of peace I've been waiting for. Do me a favor and read or listen to this book away from others. You will find yourself giggling at the banter.

The couple grows more comfortable with being with one another in this book. Something I think every Kate Daniel's fan has been looking forwards to. The sex is lacking but that's brilliant with me, one little kiss scene and everyone in my home giggles like little girls and tells me I'm listening to porn.

In this installment Kate is growing ever closer to being discovered by her father. She's doing all sorts of neat things with her blood. I have no doubt this will land her in hot water in the future.

halfway thru the series. the book arc has been pretty repetitive so far, you have a bunch of seemingly unrelated incidents that, wow! end up being related after all. kate’s fearless as always and the whole gang: pack, people, and whatever else fantastical-adjacent-folk teams up to save the day. the magic and the fantasy are still cool and has basis in folklore and mythology and at the end of the day, kate is a likeable character. so we read on.

I enjoyed this one! It was fun to see Kate strike out on her own without the constraints of the order. I also love all the side characters and watching them develop.
