I will be honest - I liked the previous book more. I loved story, characters, relationships between them... Pure perfection for me. I'm not saying that this part of the series is bad. I enjoyed it and I enjoyed it a lot. However, it missed something what I'm not able to identify for now. Still 5/5* :)

After a few months away from this series, I was surprised by how seamlessly I got back into it. I immediately felt back at home in the Kate Daniels universe and was reminded of why I enjoy it so much - Kate is just such a great heroine. Protective, no-nonsense, gritty, and a total badass.

I really enjoyed this installment. Kate and Curran deepened their relationship here, and I loved how both of their personalities (and their personality clashes) were handled. It was also great seeing Kate step into her role as Alpha Female in the pack and learn to navigate conflicts in that space - true to form, Kate never let anyone intimidate her.

Ahhh, and it’s so cute to see Kate and Curran becoming an actual team and family. Watching Julie grow into that constellation was just heartwarming. Seeing Kate feel so motherly toward Julie and really parenting her made my heart full. After the earlier books, where Kate seemed resigned to being alone, it’s beautiful to see how much she’s opened up and changed.

Anyway, I loved this so much. Definitely diving into the next book ASAP.
