Cada libro se hace mas interesante, una lastima que sean tan poco conocidos porque son AWESOME!
Still an entertaining read, and I breezed through it. The mystery was strong; I didn't figure out what was killing wards until Kate did as well, but I'm giving this 5th book a chill 3 starts because this book had a decidedly more heavy/grim feeling than the others.
I did not laugh as much, except at the attack poodle's antics. Thank goodness for the pets providing some comic relief.

Probably more like 3.5 stars. Probably one of the slower books of the series but I think it's leading up to a lot of things. I still really enjoyed it though.

Compared to the other books in the series, this one seemed to take much more time to pick up and really get things going. Although some major action happens from the very beginning, it's nothing but buildup. Of course the plot was exciting throughout, as expected of Andrews.
However, the spectacular ending that we've learned to expect from Andrews did not quite deliver. It ended up being underdeveloped and poorly executed- everything happened so quickly and within so few pages that it seems like the entire book was only based on its last few pages.
That aside, there are alwasy good things to say about Kate! She's definately a kick-ass-heroine who knows her stuff. She takes shit from no one, and anyone who even tries to mess with her is an idiotic blockhead. And a very dead one at that.
Kate's relationship with Curran further develops in this book, and I just love following along! Their dialogues are always funny and managed to earn quite a few snickers from me. And the thing I love the most is how obvious they love each other. Unlike other paranormal romances that focus heavily on plain lust, Curran's and Kate's relation ship is heavily based on love, and it's just beautiful.

Bello questo quinto libro: la parte romance si riduce a livelli tollerabili, prosegue spedita la Trama e pure la trama del libro è interessante.
Su questo versante abbiamo la credibilissima comparsa di un gruppo terroristico, un'associazione segreta di umani che odiano la magia e i cambiamenti che ha portato, e che sono pronti a tutto per eliminarla, sognando il ritorno a un mondo "equo e meritocratico" privo di magia.
Chiaramente non hanno letto i libri di storia, come viene fatto notare nel libro.
Bello vedere il Conclave e tutti i gruppi magici di Atlanta collaborare per la salvezza collettiva.
E molto buoni gli avanzamenti della Trama: le nuove informazioni sulla madre di Kate (che hanno molto senso e danno un tocco più realistico e meno favolistico alla storia del passato di Kate), le streghe russe con la promessa di un miglioramento importante nelle abilità magiche della protagonista, l'evoluzione del rapporto con Julie (con la minaccia di un enorme futuro fraintendimento), quanto ottenuto da Kate nel finale e la voce nella sua testa (Roland? Hugh? echi di sua zia? Sua madre?), oltre alla ricomparsa di Hugh.
Un volume piacevolissimo, con alcune scene epiche nello scontro finale.
