Ok so hear me out: aside from desperately needing an editor, this story is solid and completely heart wrenching. Myyah deserved so much better and so do all of the children like her in those situations. Quan has done a brilliant job of weaving a complex story with, at times, humorous language and the sad realities of many low income families. I wish these things were completely in the realm of fiction, but unfortunately they are not. So many people have either gone through something similar or know people who have. I truly wish more people would connect with these stories so that change would be timely.

If you or another are in danger or need help, please reach out to your local community, it’s not a perfect system but you have to start somewhere for change to happen.

After seeing this book all over TikTok, I finally thought I’d give it a chance. Let’s just say I was in no way, shape, or form mentally prepared for this to be as captivating as it was. This book is definitely not for everyone. But, it’s certainly for me!

Jesus Christ that was an emotional roller coaster! I had no idea the book would be 1) that long and 2) that deep! The writing itself is decent at worst and really fucking good at best! Not sure if I’ll read any other quan millz books, but once some of those Sci fi and fantasy books come out I might I feel like he’d write good alien sex.
