I started out this book thinking, “Yeah, it’s good, not my favorite.” However, once I finished it I really found I had really enjoyed it. The writing was one of those books that is easy to read. The whole book really took a good look at judgments and how race and class affect societal interactions. I don’t usually like books as much where kids are the storytellers, but once I got to the middle of this book I changed my tune.
Interesting author fact: This was Harper Lee’s only published work! Also, the movie adaptation with Gregory Peck is AMAZING. It’s one of those rare times the book and the movie are so identical, that it feels like you are reading it over again.

I’m not a huge fan of this book. It’s good for what it was at the time, but it’s not progressive enough for my taste. I need a little more radicalism from my civil rights heroes.
