As someone currently in the dating app chaos, this book had me rethinking everything. Ghosting? Fine. Bad banter? Expected. But a serial killer targeting my past matches? Yeah, I might just log off now.
Gwen’s dating life is already tragic but when her exes start dropping like flies she has to figure out who’s behind it before she’s next. This one is darkly hilarious, fast paced and packed with those “GIRL, DON’T GO IN THERE” moments that had me yelling at the pages. I clocked the fake outs early but the big reveal still got me right at the end. If you love murder with a side of sass add this to your TBR but maybe log off Tinder first.

oh lord
unfortunately for me, once again you cannot judge a book by its cover
i borrowed this book from my local library, and the cover, premise, and blurb drew me right in. it's the kind of book that is right up my alley; murder, dating, millennial style banter. or so i thought that's what i was getting into at least.
unfortunately for me, this book did not live up to its cover.
i ended up listening to the audiobook, which i think made it glaringly obvious how bad the dialogue was. the conversations are choppy and unnatural, and are dispersed with a random onslaught of bad jokes that the FMC makes to cover up her absence of personality.
i don't know what the author's deal is, but i'm not convinced he's ever met a person, let alone had a conversation. none of the characters are particularly likeable, especially our FMC, who seems more like an idea of a person, rather than an actual one. she gets low-key assaulted repeatedly on a bunch of the dates that supposedly drive the plot, and its never really acknowledged properly, not even as motivation by our killer.
the pacing of this book is so unrealistic they should probably file it away as fantasy, rather than fiction. the killer was kind of predictable from early on, largely due to the poor writing of the characters and narrative.
overall, this is not a great book, but still gets two stars from me, instead of one because i was able to actually finish it, and listening to the audiobook motivated me to get my chores done.
the best part of this book was when it was over. thankfully i will never have to swipe right on the pages of this book again.
