The premise was great. Execution was just not for me. Learning that this was a man writing a woman made so much sense. The MC is a horrible person, who meets horrible people on the apps, and continues to be an awful person at the end. The humor didn’t land, and I truly did not understand a single choice she made.

did the FMC make me so annoyed ? yes. but i loved this premise so much and i really like that it included chapters of each of the dates she went on. i had lots of fun reading it

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this arc. This book is about a women called Gwen. After breaking up with her boyfriend she decides to download connector (a dating app) to forget about him.

The only problem, each man is worse than the one before. But what happens when she matches with a serial killer? Each of her dates is murdered. As the story unfolds we see Gwen try to figure out this mystery and figure out who it is exactly that’s killing all these men.

Gwen works with detective Lyon’s to figure out who is behind all these killings. Can she find the killer before it’s to late?

Don’t swipe right is an amazing thriller. It had me hooked from the start and is a book that helped me get out of a reading slump. I’m so glad I tried this and hope that it will be the first of many books a read from this author.

4.5

I really wanted to like this and I’m quite sad I didn’t as the premise sounded so good but the fmc was so unbearable and you know it’s bad when you end up routing for the killer… gwen was such a shitty friend it’s unreal.

This debut novel bursts onto the scene with a bang, plunging readers headfirst into a hilariously awkward hen do. Our protagonist, Gwen, seeks refuge from the cringe-worthy festivities in the ladies' room, where a desperate swipe on the dating app Connector leads to a bizarre message about a dead body. The shock intensifies when Gwen realizes the deceased is Rob, a man she'd endured one disastrous date with just two weeks prior. Before she can process the information, the police arrive at her door, catapulting her into a chaotic and escalating situation.
The author masterfully navigates a delicate balance between laugh-out-loud humour and genuine suspense. Gwen's sharp wit and clever observations provide consistent comedic relief, even as the mystery deepens. This book seamlessly blends perfectly pitched humour with a twisty, suspenseful plot and a compelling police investigation. The fast-paced narrative keeps you hooked from beginning to end, and even necessary moments of backtracking serve to enrich the story and deepen the intrigue, never hindering the momentum.
The characterization is superb. Gwen is an absolute delight – a constant source of witty remarks, yet also possessing a core of pluck, bravery, and gumption (which occasionally wavers in the face of absurd circumstances). As the plot thickens, escalates, and twists its way towards a satisfying conclusion, Gwen's personality shines through, making her a relatable and engaging protagonist.
Overall, this is a highly entertaining and incredibly promising debut. I thoroughly enjoyed every page and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fun, fast-paced read with a clever and irresistible blend of humour and suspense. This author is one to watch!
