Absolutely stunning artwork and colouring that oozes gore and emotion. But the cliché religious war plot and trippy end lost me a little. I did love the character little bird tho for what it’s worth.

There were times when it seemed like an easy 4-star review, and others when it felt like it might sink to just a 2-star review. It's a violent dystopian-future story, and explores interesting ideas, but some points of interest feel muddy and rushed. It's Van Poelgeest's first comic, and I think some of the shifts between scenes or point of view suffered, possibly as a result.

The art was interesting -- great in some spots and uncomfortable in some others. I'm glad to have read The Incal prior to this, because the Moebius influences were overwhelming at times.
