i honestly should have given up on this series after book 2 was very disappointing/had a ton of discontinuity from book 1--but alas, I am bad at DNF'ing and also wanted to find out if I'd get the romance i'd been hoping for (alas, hardly).

#1--this is very YA, which I didn't realize when I started the series. which CAN be okay, but the main romance in this series had all the substance of uncooked bread and no romantic build-up to boot. They made very romantic declarations near the end and i felt NOTHING :( that and i wasn't convinced they had any reason for loving each other besides proximity and being involved in the same events, tbh. there was NO substance to them. no REASON to fight/love/etc.

there was little discontinuity from book 2 (unlike book 1 -> book 2), but i might've just given up recording it at this point.

the book DOES have a HEA--but it feels unearned and choppy. Nothing made me really want to root for Catherine and her HEA, other than wanting romantic scenes at the end (there was hardly anything to write home over).

PS: this book, also, needs a good editor/copy editor. I proofread my fanfic better than this series was edited...
